Flower and Chili Growth
Keeping Tabs on Plant Growth
First thing to start off this contraption is putting hold at the bottom of the egg carton for drainage. Next I would need to fill the spots that I want to use with humus soil and then plant the seedlings. Lastly, I cut out the top of the egg carton and taped saran wrap on top of it so it could get a good amount of sunlight and my cat and dog won’t be able to mess with it while it’s out in the open.
I'm going to put these almost germinated seeds in egg cartons sometime this week and put those flower bulb in the pots that I previously had the deceased chili pepper on.
They are dying sadly, but luckily I have another batch germinating in a container. I have to restart, but this time; I'm going to let the sprouts grow in a egg carton until they mature enough. I'm also going to start growing bulbs for the flowers that I have been procrastinating to grow. Starting very late on growing the flowers.
The longer that I work on trying to keep these precious sprouts alive, the more that I see how much they are suffering and dying slowly. I think the main problem is that my greenhouse is not effective or efficiantly made. There are probably gaps that allow the cold to come in, the opposite of what it's supposed to do. Another reason is that the fruit-fly insects that are feeding off the sprouts, dawn soap water is not doing the trick. To speed up the growth next time, I would need to use fertilizer.
I came across an issue, fruit flys and beetles, etc. are trying to eat them, so I sprayed them down with dawn dish soap. It is not supposed to harm the sprouts but kill the bugs. That was not the only issue, I overwatered them by watering them before I sprayed them down with dawn dish soap and water; they are now bruising the leaves. It is not a huge deal because it´s only affecting the first leaves that sprouted, not the new ones, its normal for the old leaves to fall off (so Mr. Lidnsey said). AND another issue happened, I have to bring in the pots because it gets cold outside at night, and when I was not paying attention, Sox (kitten) destroyed 3 sprouts in the Cubanelle; luckily I had 2 left.
